2001: A Space Odyssey
A ground-breaking science fiction movie made in the late 1960's by Stanley Kubrick. The fictional computer HAL 9000 features as the paranoid on-board artificial intelligence, a world first? I'm pretty sure even with its low rating, that this one would list on my "must watch before I die" films.

2010: The Year We Made Contact

A.I. Artificial Intelligence

Apollo 13

Armageddon
Unimaginative hollywood action-scifi based on the idea that a big rock will destroy the world. The solution ofcourse being to send some macho americans up to blow it up with something big and flashy. I actually got this movie as part of a package of 3 films, else I wouldnt have gotten it.

Back to the Future 1

Back to the Future 2

Back to the Future 3

Blade Runner

Braveheart

Bruce Almighty

  Bourne Identity

  Bourne Supremacy

  Bourne Ultimatum

  The Chamber

  Cocoon

Conan the Barbarian

  Cool Runnings

Crying Freeman
This movie is a classic not for its acting or special effects or anything like that, but for its visual presentation. Im not aware of any movie thereafter that is even close, except perhaps the Lord of the Rings trilogy.

Deep Impact

Die Hard

Die Hard 2: Die Harder

Die Hard: With a Vengeance

  Die Hard 4.0

  District 9

Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb
Peter Sellers plays several parts in this movie telling a story about how nuclear war might come upon us.

Dune

Eddie Murphy Raw
This isn't a traditional movie so much as just a movie with Eddie Murphy performing live on stage in New York. Gives you a whole bunch to laugh about.

Enemy of the State

Escape from Alcatraz

The Fifth Element
The best Sci-Fi comedy action movie to date, IMHO.

First Blood (Rambo)
Unlike the following two movies, this one is closer to realistic. Alot of complaints about this film in america when it first debuted but in fact only one person in the whole movie dies.

Forrest Gump
Another good movie with Tom Hanks.

  Hard Rain

Highlander

  The Good Thief

The Good, The Bad and The Ugly

  The Guns of Navarone

The Hunt for Red October

Independence Day

I, Robot

James Bond 20: Die Another Day

Jaws
Über-Classic "horror" movie. You dont even get to see the shark until halfway into the movie. A bit soft in comparison with horror movies of today. Roy Scheider in perhaps what is his best performance.

Jaws 2

Jumper

Jurassic Park

  Kagemusha

  Korpens Skugga

  Kung Fu Hustle
Chinese action-comedy movie, has elements of old cartoon movies which makes it all pretty hilarious.
